Unwind Letter 2

Let me just say, that this story keeps getting better and better. I’ve finished the book a couple times over already, and I’m still reading even more. What pisses me off the most is the fact that there’s no sequel or prequel or something. The author could’ve totally expanded on this story. Hell, he could probably make a series off this. SO anyway, while I was reading part two of the book, I came across this interesting little dialogue/quote/whatever the hell you wanna call it:

“ Love the ones you can… Pray for the rest. ” ~Nurse Greta (pg 115)

This just threw me off track. It completely shows the contrast of this made-up world. It basically states that you should only love certain people, and forsake the rest. It’s about as inhumane as the unwinding system. Its amazing disregard of life astounds even me. I truly don’t understand why they can’t love all of the abandoned infants, instead of favoriting certain ones. I mean, hey, all of them are going to be unwound later on when they grow up, why not pour the love? Continuing my reading, I found a second intriguing quote, this one a bit more gruesome than the rest:

“ In its report, the Council describes, a general culture of trafficking of children snatched at birth, and a wall of silence from hospital staff upward over their fate. The pictures show organs, including brains, have been stripped --- and some bodies dismembered. ” ~Matthew Hill, BBC Health Correspondent (pg 119)

Well, it’s official, unwinding is freaky. What’s even freakier is people doing it to newborn infants. I mean, can you imagine some sicko taking a tiny baby the length of my wrist to my elbow and cutting it up? I mean, what the hell would baby body parts be good for anyway? It’s not like you can use them as replacements for other your other limbs. Oh damn, I just imagined a grown-man with a two week year old hand… What the fudge…
