Unwind Letter 1

One thing before I type anything: THIS BOOK IS FRIGGIN' AMAZING. Put down whatever you're doing and get to the nearest library or Barnes & Nobles, cause this book is awesome. First off, some info on the book. Unwind, written by Neal Shusterman, is a somewhat dystopia-like book. It's pretty amazing how Shusterman took regular everyday life, and alter it in such a way that it seems NOTHING like our current time. I must truly applaud the fact that his storytelling is so... well... good, that it completely drew me into the story and made me believe it was a sci-fi thriller set thousands of years in the future. During my reading, I came across a interesting quote on the first four pages of the book:
I was never going to amount to much anyway, but now, statistically speaking, there's a better chance that some part of me will go on to greatness somewhere in the world. I'd rather be partly great than entirely useless. -Samson Ward
What really irked me about this quote is the fact that this person accepts
the idea of that they themselves are useless, thus making them expendable or in this case, "unwindable". This quote shows the extent of the BS propaganda the government feeds people about unwinding and transplants. What's so amazing about a part of you having greatness? Imagine if Mozart had a unwinded eye or ear. No one would care if it's your eye or your body part. They'd only recognize it as Mozart's and his alone. There's nothing great about it. It's basically saying that you've given up on life, wouldn't it be better that someone else took your brain, eyes, and hands to do something?
