Lit Circle Letter #3
After a month of boring railway talks and over dramatization of the US industrial economy, this friggin' book finally takes a turn for the better and becomes a whole lot more interesting. (To me, anyway) Since I'm waaaaaaaaaay ahead of my reading partner, I can't really talk about the book, since I don't want to spoil it for my partner. I'm pretty sure they're still at page a hundred-something whereas I'm on page 934. Not much to say at this point, except that the end is pretty... predictable... since the author keeps on foreshadowing the hell out of the outcome and dropping so many hints. It'd take a complete _______ to not figure out what happens. The book was a very interesting read, even thought I was bored out of my mind for most of it. I know I said that I didn't really care what sort of book I read, but this one had me toeing the line between falling asleep and blowing my brains out from boredom. Figures that only the good stuff happen at the very end, and by that I mean at the last twenty pages of the damn book. I spent a whole month reading nine hundred pages of confusing BS just for a couple pages of crystal-clear action that made me wanna burn the book. I don't really see how this book won the New York Times Best Seller award.... But then again... Almost two out of every three books in the US has a New York Times Best Seller award on the cover (Offense intended).
