Delaying the A

What is procrastination? Is it negligence? Is it thoughtlessness? Or is it just plain laziness? Atleast once in every student's life, he or she will procrastinate. As they say, "Procrastinate once, you get a cat; procrastinate twice and you get a frog". Like the lovable cat in the picture shown, most students would rather sit on the couch with the remote and drinking soda instead of Bud Light, I hope. And I'm one of them.
Every project I've ever been assigned I have put off repeatedly til the last night before it's due. I would stay up late til midnight sitting at my desk typing up the the latest report I delayed or a project I forgot about til the very last minute. Every now and then, I tell myself over and over that I'll actually work on the project at hand, but whenever I start working on the project, I get distracted by the littlest things. Once, I was typing up a informal report on the culture in Egypt, I noticed a ant on my desk and started messing with it with a pencil. By the time I noticed the time, I had spent almost an hour playing with an insect. I didn't sleep til 3 AM that night just because I was busy trying to trap an ant with pieces of paper. When I turned my paper in the next day, my teacher looked at it and said "Late night, huh?". I asked how she knew and she said told me that one half of my report was complete gibberish that she couldn't understand; that, and the fact that I had bloodshot eyes and looked like hell. This incident set the standard for most of my projects, whether it be an insect, a rubber band, or something shiny I saw at the corner of my eye.
Now that I think back to my old school days, I finally realize that I could've done better academically and had higher grades if I had actually organized myself better and had a plan when working on my projects, instead of just typing up random bullshit that came to mind on the night before it was due.

  1. "Procrastinate once, you get a cat; procrastinate twice and you get a frog"...explain?

I've got a book I want to show you. I think you'll really get a kick out of it. I'll bring it on Monday; remind me to give it to you in case I forget.
